ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Thanassis Manis is an Architect. He studied Architecture at the University of Patras (2006) and received the Master of Science Degree in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University - Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (2008), with a scholarship from ‘Panayotis and Effie Michelis Foundation’. At Columbia University he was awarded the ‘Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize’.

He is an editor at DOMa – an independent institution for contemporary architecture based in Athens – and his activity includes publications, exhibitions, conferences and educational programs. He coedited the digital archive of Greek architecture ‘DOMa Index’, the collective volume ‘Afetiries’ documenting a series of lecture events, and the international magazine ‘DOMa’ (2020-) which focuses on the architectural process.

He has been teaching Architecture and Urban Design studios at the Department of Architecture of the University of Patras since 2014 and in 2021 he was appointed Assistant Professor.

His architecture practice is based in Athens (manisoffice.com) and he has participated in international competitions with distinctions such as: Honorable Mention in the ‘Space To Culture’ competition in Bologna (2014), First Prize in the ‘Berlin University Residences’ competition (2016) for the design of a residential complex in the neighborhood of Kreuzberg.
