Simos Vamvakidis began his studies at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Athens. However, he soon changed course, studying Civil Engineering at the TEI of Piraeus. He then studied Architectural Engineering at NTUA and graduated 5th (grade 8.77) within 3 years. He completed his MArchII Degree in Architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as a fellow at the Fullbright & Michellis Foundations, with professors such as Greg Lynn and Thom Mayne (Morphosis). He continued his doctoral studies at the Department of Architecture of NTUA, with a scholarship from the Onassis Foundation and then from IKY.

His doctoral dissertation is entitled: "Generative and Parametric design: the semantic change of design, from the predetermined, to the field of possibilities". His research has been published in books such as A. Agkathidis' Generative Design (Laurence King Publishers) and international peer-reviewed journals, such as the International Journal of Design Education (2 articles) and MIT's 3DP + journal. He has presented at a number of eCAADe conferences. He has published 2 monographs, Innovative Architecture Strategies (2016) and Composing Architecture and Interior Design (2018) (BIS Publishers), The Netherlands.

He has conducted studies for the design and construction of public spaces and buildings as an independent architect and in international architectural offices such as UNstudio in Amsterdam, were he was in charge for the Design Strategy for Walls & Floors, for the project 100 metro stations in Qatar. He has worked in offices in Los Angeles and Athens, while since 2008 he maintains the office SVstudio, with 7 distinctions in international architectural competitions. His studies have been published in DOMES (mention award for best study in 2015) and in a series of the Biennale of Young Greek Architects.

He has being teaching architectural sythesis for over 13 years, as a Lecturer and Head of the 2nd year in schools in the UK, Greece and Lebanon. Some of the universities he has taught at are: the University of Liverpool, the University of Plymouth, the National Technical University of Athens and the Lebanese American University (LAU).
