
Constantinos Petrakos is an architect and holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Patras. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Patras (2007) and earned a Master of Architecture (M.Arch II) from Cornell University (2017).
He is the founder of Constantinos Petrakos Architects, based in Patras, with projects in Greece and abroad. His work includes residential buildings, public spaces, and urban regeneration projects and has received distinctions in national and international architectural competitions. He was awarded 3rd Prize in the National Competition for the redevelopment of Pedion Areos Park in Volos (2022), 2nd Prize in the National Competition for the redevelopment of the former Ladopoulos Paper Mill (EGL) in Patras (2020), 2nd Prize for the Open Mall of the Municipality of Arta (2019), an Honorable Mention in the international competition for the regeneration of the Zouchouri complex in Larnaka (2018), as well as an Honorable Mention in the international competition for the redesign of the Koum Kapi waterfront in Chania (2014). In 2025, his project Courtyard House, Strovolos was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award and the Piranesi Awards. His work has been exhibited and published internationally.
His architectural practice evolves in continuous dialogue with research and teaching. His doctoral dissertation, Aphaeresis in Architecture, develops the notion of aphaeresis (subtraction) as a theoretical and methodological design tool, proposing its understanding not as mere reduction but as a process of critical formation of architectural work. His approach advocates a conscious and reflective subtraction as a means toward spatial and cultural sustainability.
