The introduction to conceptual and methodological issues of cartography, primarily of thematic cartography, is the course content. Typical thematic issues that the educational process contains are: Historical perspectives, Map development and reading, spatial data acquisition, spatial data classification, generalisation and visualization of spatial information, Map design issues (colour, symbology, etc), mapping abstraction, etc.

The educational process emphasizes to the use of GIS technology and includes theoretical presentations and discussions, presentation of applied examples, hands-on training on selected GIS s/w and students’ projects.
